Skills Active Aotearoa is New Zealand’s Industry Training Organisation (ITO) for the recreation, sport and exercise industries. We are a government-funded organisation and our role is to develop and facilitate world-class, nationally recognised qualifications that meet the needs of your business.
That means providing employers and business owners with solutions for qualifying your staff through recognising the training and experience you provide your staff on the job. These solutions provide value to your business and a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Industry training organisations are well recognised in New Zealand’s tertiary education sector and the qualifications developed by them are quality assured by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).

We are passionate about upskilling and qualifying your staff. We want your business to be successful on your training journey with us. From your first contact with Skills Active you will be assigned a Learning Support Advisor (LSA), who will be your key point of contact within our team.
Our LSAs all come with a strong interest in recreation, sport and fitness, so they know what it is like to be in your shoes. Your LSA will help you to understand your qualification options, explain your obligations, assist you with your paperwork to get you signed up and help you develop training plans for your trainees.
