Gaining a national qualification is rewarding and it is yours for life. However, just holding a qualification doesn’t mean that your skills and experience remain current.
A few years ago some sport and recreation industry organisations got together with Skills Active to discuss how we, as an industry, could recognise the ongoing currency of skills and experience of qualification holders in some roles. From this the online database, NZ Register of Recreation Professionals (NZRRP), was developed.
NZRRP is a searchable online register of qualified people, organisations and facilities.
Not all Skills Active qualifications are included on NZRRP. Currently, information shows people holding outdoor recreation, swim education and pool lifeguard qualifications where industry organisations agree that currency of skills and work experience is critical.
When you first gain one of these qualifications you automatically appear on NZRRP, but to maintain your registration you need to meet certain currency requirements and re-register every 2-3 years. You can check the individual requirements of each qualification at www.nzrrp.co.nz.
Keeping your NZRRP re-registration up-to-date is your responsibility. To re-register on NZRRP you first need to register on ActiveCV.
ActiveCV is a linked website where you manage and update your qualification registration and the information that appears on NZRRP.
