Sport NZ quality development project

Skills Active and Sport New Zealand are leading a project to explore and pilot a potential nationwide quality assurance approach to the external provision of physical activity in primary schools.

The project

PE and sport are often delivered by external providers including regional sports trusts, regional sport organisations, and national sport organisations, as well as paid sport coaches.

Our goal is to develop a consistent approach that these parties can work towards as they deliver quality experiences for young people within primary schools.

This initiative focuses on commercial operators providing paid coaching services in schools. It does not include the thousands of dedicated parents and caregivers who give their time as volunteer coaches.
