ADMINISTRATION, FINANCE & HR TEAM

The Administration, Finance & HR Team is made up of the following staff members based in the Wellington office.


ADMINISTRATION TEAM

 

Helene Mason - Corporate Services Manager

Helene manages the Administration Team.
She enjoys reading, movies, bush walks, time with friends and family, music and spending hours on end creating Batik Art.

Helene has over 20 years experience in finance and office management.

 

 

 

Courtenay Suppinger - HR Manager

Courtenay joined Skills Active in 2005.  She originally started as an Administration Assistant and then in October 2007 became the EA to the CE.  Following on from that in October 2008, she also included HR Administration into her role, and in November 2009 was appointed HR Manager.

She has more than 15 years experience in a variety of administration roles within small, medium and large companies and is familiar with employment environments ranging from research and advertising, to power, oil and transport. She is currently studying Business Studies majoring in HR extramurally.

 

 

Bridie Rees - Executive Assistant / Marketing Co-ordinator

Bridie joined Skills Active in June 2006 and works as Executive Assistant across the senior management and administration teams to support the responsibilities of the Chief Executive and the Board. Bridie is also responsible for the co-ordination of all of Skills Active's marketing functions.

Outside the office environment she is keen on using her camera on landscapes, people and fascinating objects and when not keeping fit walking Wellington’s waterfront, is happy catching up with the latest movies and sporting events.

 

Ben Dorrington - Client Services - Enrolments

Ben joined Skills Active in December 2009. He looks after enrolments and coordinates assessments for NZOIA. A Commerce graduate of Victoria University, Ben is currently studying part time towards a 2nd degree in Media Studies.

In his spare time Ben plays Lacrosse, surfs, snowboards, and spends as much time in and around the Ocean as possible. He is currently refurbishing a vintage surfboard to add to his collection.

 

 

 

 

 

Seamus Pomeroy-Lovatt - Client Services Administrator - Completions

Seamus joined Skills Active in 2006. He supports Jay in the information systems management role and is responsible for coordinating all data entry. Seamus also developed Skills Active’s Intranet. Seamus is currently studying towards his MSCE (Microsoft) and CCNA (Cisco) qualifications.

 

 

 

Jay Weerappulige - IT & Database Manager

Jay joined Skills Active in 1998 after obtaining a National Diploma in Advance Business Computing at CIT in Upper Hutt. 
He is responsible for the development and maintenance of Skills Active’s database, ‘Te Pataka’, as well as all internal information systems, computers and software.

Prior to Skills Active, Jay has worked as a Civil Engineer in Sri Lanka for about 10 years.
He is very passionate about cricket, and supports Sri Lanka and the Black Caps (in that order).

 

 

 

Jess Nijhuis - Administrative Assistant

Jess joined Skills Active in October 2008.

Her role involves looking after reception, and involves a wide range of administrative duties, including the day to day running of the office.

 

Her work background has mainly been retail based; however she has also been a graphic designer and has worked for a while as a visual merchandiser. Her qualifications include a Bachelor in Art and Design.

 

Some interests include – painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, eastern cultures, art therapy and anthroposophy. She also enjoys being outdoors and likes doing a variety of sports and activities to stay fit and have fun.

 

FINANCE TEAM

 

Laura Cooper - Finance Manager

Laura joined Skills Active in mid 2006 after a two year stint working and living around the UK. She is responsible for the Finance department at Skills Active.

Laura has a BCA with a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accountancy from Victoria University of Wellington and completed her CA requirements in late 2008.

 

 
 
 
 
 
Campbell Yu - Accountant
 
Campbell joined Skills Active in December 2008 following several years working in the education sector in a variety of accounting roles. He has a Bsc degree from Waikato University majoring in Applied Statistics and is currently studying towards an Accounting Technician qualification. His current position is responsible for maintaining and supporting business processes relating to all finance matters.
 
Campbell enjoys bush walking and mountain biking, and is always keen to travel and explore new places and meet new people.
