WORK SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TEAM
The Work Skills Development Team is made up of the following staff members who are based in our Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch offices.

Andre Whittaker - General Manager
Andre joined Skills Active in January 2008. He is a keen sportsman, involved in rugby league and currently involved with Waka Ama Outrigger Canoe Paddling.
He has a background in field sales in several industries, most recently as a Regional Field Sales Manager with Frucor Beverages and prior to that Area Sales Manager with DB Breweries. People development and associated community development are key drivers for Andre. He enjoys the gym, paddling and staying active.

Linda Dorrington - Assistant General Manager
Linda joined Skills Active in 2006 as an Industry Training Adviser for the Community Recreation sector, based in Wellington. Linda has a background in people management and water-based fitness having worked for Wellington City Council for 14 years.
Linda is passionate about sea kayaking, family, good friends and great wine. Combining all of these sums up her weekends so long as the wind is not too strong in Wellington. |

Jen Stewart - Relationship Manager
Jen joined Skills Active in April 2008, having worked for several years as a kayak instructor and more recently in business development and event management for kayaking pursuits.
Jen is based in Auckland working across the community recreation, fitness and outdoor recreation sectors from Auckland to the far north. Having grown up on an island in the Hauraki Gulf, Jen has a strong interest in conservation and the outdoors. Most afternoons Jen can be found spending her time between basketball, netball, kayaking and the Skills Active 7 aside sub-football team.

Bruce Davey - Relationship Manager
Bruce is a Relationship Manager based in Auckland.
Bruce has spent the past 3 years of his career working in Community Recreation and the Fitness Industry. After leaving the Navy in 2005, Bruce was employed at Youthtown as the Programme Director. He then travelled to Europe for his OE with partner Susan, and took up employment as Operations Manager of one of London’s most exclusive health clubs, Virgin Active Classic. In addition Bruce also spent time as crew on Luxury Yachts in the Mediterranean and installing roofing gutters in Canada. |

Eamon Nathan - Relationship Manager
Ko Maunganui te maunga Ko Waipoua te awa Ko Kawerua te moana Ko Mahuhu-ki-te-rangi te waka Ko Manumanu te tangata Ko Te Roroa te iwi
Other iwi affiliations: Ngati Torahina, Ngati Whatua, Cretan, Rarotongan, Irish Eamon's role is to assist in the promotion of Maori engaged in training across the sectors that Skills Active service, as well as other industry sectors through collaboration with other ITO’s. Eamon's interests include Maori Culture, Waka ama, Music, Rugby League and socialising. |

Karen Pillay - Relationship Manager
Karen joined Skills Active in July 2008 as an Industry Training Adviser. Karen is based in Auckland and works across all sectors.
Karen has worked in the industry as a swim teacher, Lifeguard and Receptionist before going corporate. She spent sometime there before realising that the job wasn't for her, so she came back to the industry, as it is her passion. Another one of Karen's passions is Professional Development coaching.

David Lees - Relationship Manager
David joined Skills Active in 2004 as an Industry Training Adviser based in Hamilton.
David has a background in corporate management, small business, education and training. David follows all sports and has a goal of breeding a Golden Slipper or Melbourne Cup winner.

Gina Robertson - Relationship Manager Gina liaises with organisations in the Waikato and Taranaki regions to identify the training needs, in order to develop training plans for trainees to achieve units of learning within their respective fields.
Gina has a background in adult teaching and learning. She is passionate for people to suceed in thier goals within their respective fields of training.
Gina is the number one taxi service for her two sons with golf, soccer, athletics, cricket and rugby and hopes her eldest will support her in her more mature age when he becomes a professional golfer.

The Wellington and Christchurch Relationship Managers cover the areas of lower North Island and the whole of the South Island.

Philippa Ward - Relationship Manager
Philippa joined Skills Active in January 2009, and has had a wide variety of experience in sport and fitness. She spent eight years teaching Physical Education before travelling to Europe to coach softball. Upon returning she has spent time as a Fitness Consultant, Softball Development Coach, and Tertiary Tutor in Sport Management and Exercise Prescription.
In her spare time Philippa like to coach softball, go to movies, and travel here and overseas. She is currently learning to surf.

Selina Rooke - Relationship Manager
Selina joined Skills Active in June 2009 and is based in Wellington as a Relationship Manager. Selina has a strong background in Aquatics with 13 years spent as a lifeguard, swim instructor and swim school manager, most recently 3 years with Wellington City Council.
Selina is passionate about aquatics and is a keen swimmer herself, having competed in all 5 swims of the 2008/09 Sovereign Ocean Swim series. Other than swimming Selina enjoys keeping young by spending time with her nieces, going to the gym, travelling and cooking.

Jess Lemieux - Relationship Manager
Jess Lemieux came to Skills Active in March 2009 and is based in Wellington as a Relationship Manager.
Her ‘active’ background includes teaching Rock Climbing in Canada while completing her Honors Degree in Political Science. She loves being outside and spends as much time walking, climbing and cycling as possible! If she isn’t doing that you’ll find her in French Language lessons, her nose in a book or painting.

Donna Hooper - Relationship Manager
Donna joined Skills Active in 2006 as an Industry Training Adviser for the Community Recreation sector, based in Christchurch.
She has a background in the Aquatics Industry having worked as a Lifeguard, Learn to Swim Instructor and Training Co-ordinator.

Jamie Rei - Relationship Manager
Iwi: Nga Ruahinerangi; Hapu: Ngati Tu
Jamie joined Skills Active in 2007 as the Fitness Industry Training Adviser based in Christchurch.
He has a background in the Sport and Fitness industries, having worked and trained in both these areas in Australia. Having a passion for Sport, Jamie wishes he could play golf every day instead of going to work.
