- Fully informing trainees of the nature of the assessment to be used and the standards of performance expected (setting an assessment plan).
- Ensuring trainees understand and agree to the assessment methods.
- Assess trainees against workplace and national (unit) standards using an externally moderated resource.
- Give clear and constructive feedback to trainees.
- Report credit to Skills Active using Skills Active's credit reporting processes.
- Participate in moderation checks.
- Retain clear and accurate candidate records including credit reporting forms for a minimum of 2 years.

Assessor Processes
Please read the ‘Skills Active Registered Assessor Information Pack and Application Guide’. This will help you to complete the Skills Active Registered Assessor & Workshop Application Form and give you all the information you need to know about becoming an assessor. You will also need to ensure that you meet the Minimum Assessor Requirements (MARs).
Active Assessor Courses
As a result of changes to the content of the two-day workshop, we now need to send material to participants for them to work through prior to the course. This means we must receive registration forms for the course 3 weeks prior to the course commencing.

We are introducing refresher courses during 2010 for current registered Skills Active Assessors and attendance will be made compulsory. Proposed dates and months are shown below. Please note that these are tentative only and are subject to change. Additional courses may also be arranged if necessary.

Cost
There is no cost for the Active Assessor Course but candidates will be required to pay for their own accommodation and transport to the venue.
In the process of becoming a registered assessor you will achieve unit standard 4098 ‘Use standards to assess candidate performance’.
