Small Enterprises Training Relief Fund - Successful Applicants

Below are a few testimonials from some of our successful applicants.

"Thanks so much Skills Active. This initiative will go along way in helping us to provide ongoing educational opportunities to those who would otherwise miss out. Keep up the great work." - Broni McSweeney, Catch Fitness

"The recession has adversely hit MSC particularly the Bushcraft Programme and its ability to conduct training at Regional Level in the past several year. This has had an adverse effect on the Volunteer Instructors country wide. The Skills Active funds will be used for two Regional Training Seminars. One in the lower North Island and the second in the top of the South Island. Regional Training is an integral part of the training process that instructors go through. It allows them to obtain first hand up to date information and by osmosis new and or better ways of doing business. The past 2 years have seen this fall away to the detriment of the programme and current instructor knowledge. So it is wonderful that MSC has had the opportunity to continue with this important aspect of its training." - Richard Brodie, NZ Mountain Safety Council

"To Skills Active I would like to send a huge thankyou for providing not just myself but to many more within our amazing industry a hand in these hard times. Last year the recession bit hard and a few other factors made 08’ a nightmare year for the Cambridge Fitness Centre! This year we have made great strides and we are slowly fighting our way back up the ladder of success. Even so this year we have not been able to put back into our staff what we have done in previous times as far as training goes. The Skills Active training relief fund has enabled us to give a small amount back to the staff towards on going training. Already half of the amount that we received has been used towards training and the remaining amount will be used in the next few months for some great training incentives. We have a breath of fresh air within the gym again and we look towards 2010 as being our best year ever." - Val Evans, Cambridge Fitness Centre

“First of all a big thanks to Skills Active for providing us with the Training Relief Fund. At GirlGuiding we are always looking for ways to get our girls out into the outdoors and being active. This funding is going directly towards providing training for our leaders to gain their Bronze Star or Bronze Medallion for life saving. This means that once qualified they can take their girls swimming. Not only is it great for the girls to be able to swim during the summer it’s also a great challenge and achievement for our leaders. Previous workshops in the past have been unsuccessful due to the lack of funds available but this summer we will see three around the country thanks to the funds from Skills Active." - Jenny Jordan, Girl Guiding NZ
