Skills Active resource catalogue

In our handy resource catalogue  you'll find integrated resource packages that have already been pre-assessment moderated. We update the catalogue on a regular basis so make sure you have the latest version - just click the link below.

Our resources are ideal for:

Providers offering Skills Active unit standards as part of their programmes

Schools offering students Skills Active unit standards through school programmes such as Gateway

Organisations offering Skills Active unit standards to their staff or volunteers.

Please note: If you're purchasing our resources, you will need to obtain consent to assess for the units involved. You can start this process by contacting the workforce development council, Toi Mai.

Your organisation will be responsible for reporting the achieved credits directly to NZQA.

Our school programmes

Every year hundreds of thousands of Kiwi secondary school students engage in vocational education and training. The sport, recreation and performing arts industries are looking for keen, passionate, active young people who want to engage as participants and leaders.

For those that learn by doing, and who love making a difference to the health and wellbeing of those around them, our youth programmes provide great opportunities for young people.

Our programmes allow them to gain skills and attributes that are sought after by employers, pick up NCEA unit standards, and get transferable working skills and experience that they can apply in future jobs.

We currently facilitate two types of youth programmes to suit your needs: Youth Awards and Gateway.

Our programmes are designed to link to Skills Active qualifications and industry career pathways. Visit our qualifications page to have a look at where our programmes could take your students.

For more information about current initiatives to support transitions from school to further learning, check out the Youth Guarantee website.

Youth Awards

Our Youth Awards initiative delivers industry-approved programmes that foster connections between schools and employers, and build work-ready skills for young people.

Our Gateway programme allows students to experience working in sport, recreation and the performing arts while they are still at secondary school - and gain credits in the process!

Memorandums of Understanding

Skills Active has memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreements with: Swimming NZ, snowsport workplaces, and Auckland Rugby League. Please note these MoUs are only available until 31 December 2022.

We will be establishing new MoU processes for schools that wish to use them for 2023. More information will be available in November on setting up MoUs with our workplaces in 2023.

Our programmes are great for helping students take the next step in their sport and recreation industry careers, while they’re still at school.

However, our pathways are also important to activity coordinators, teachers and staff who may work in a kura, primary or secondary school - or a private contractor providing sport and recreation services to schools.

Whether you provide education outside the classroom, out of school care, recreation coordination, outdoor leadership and instruction, coaching or officiating, our qualifications are designed for you.

To find out more, have a look through our qualifications below, or contact your regional Skills Active learning support advisor.
