What is it?
Growing Coaches PLUS is a programme that recognises students with the skills needed to coach sports at a beginner level.
It is an assessment package based on the existing Sport New Zealand Growing Coaches programme, already used in many schools.
Skills Active has worked with Sport New Zealand to deliver an add-on to the programme which aligns it with NZQA unit standards. Students gain three Level 3 unit standards (14 credits).
The Growing Coaches PLUS package consists of a Student Assessment Resource and a Teacher Assessment Guide.
What will students learn?
Students who complete this programme will be able to:
Plan a beginner-level coaching session for sport participants
Conduct and review a beginner-level coaching session
Demonstrate knowledge of basic skills and rules at a beginner level for their chosen sport.

How can my school get involved?
