Our regional advisors are based throughout New Zealand. They are the connecting point between you, your staff, their assessor and Skills Active.
Their role is to support you and your staff who are undertaking qualifications. Our team will sit down with you to work out what qualifications will best meet your business needs, and help you integrate on-job qualifications into your internal training systems.
Our guys provide you and your staff with ongoing support, by helping your staff identify and overcome barriers to completing their qualification, while helping you to develop and implement good practice on-job training.
Providing advice around the qualifications that might be right for your staff is all in a day’s work. They also know all of the on-job training and assessment processes inside out, so can help you set up the right training and assessment structure.
Our team often have a strong background in one or more of the industries we work with, but are skilled across all of our qualifications and the industries Skills Active works with.

We’re in the process of setting up the Kaiārahi - Skills Active volunteer mentor programme.
Our Kaiārahi are experienced people from our industries who want to give back to their industries and communities. They provide support around managing work/life balance, goal setting, developing action plans and offer encouragement and a listening ear.

Every job across our industries needs good literacy and numeracy skills.
Your staff need both literacy and numeracy skills to do their job effectively.
Think about the tasks they have to do every day:
Understanding workplace rules and procedures
Filling out forms, contracts and timesheets
Reading notices, instructions, timetables or job sheets
Working on a computer
All of these tasks rely on good literacy skills, and in some cases numeracy skills. They have an effect on how well your staff can do their job, how they work with other people, and how quickly they learn new skills and take up new challenges.

When a person signs up to our qualifications they can have their reading level checked before they start training. And, if necessary, their numeracy skills too.
We’ll help them understand what the results mean, and discuss any support they may need.
As their employer, you'll receive general information about literacy levels of your staff who have completed this assessment. This helps you get a picture of any general needs they might have.
