Career confidence through industry training
August 21, 2018
In a brand new video, Skills Active graduate Gillian Leake describes how on-job training has helped her carve out a pathway into management at The Remarkables ski resort.
Skills Active first met Gillian in 2014 when she was a team leader in the rentals department.
Three years later, she is now head of department, looking after all of the equipment specialists who make sure skiers and boarders are properly kitted out for their day on the slopes.
What drives Gillian is getting the right people in place and seeing them succeed in their roles.
Following on from her Skills Active qualifications in Snowsport Equipment and Tourism Core Skills, she completed an Adult Education and Training programme, which nourished her passion for helping her staff to grow and shine.
As Gillian reflects, the pathway she has taken has given her a lot of confidence of knowing that she’s equipped with a skillset that will slot into virtually any management role she takes up in future.
