Skills Active glad to see others joining the mission to uphold qualification integrity

May 1, 2017

Skills Active Aotearoa would like to congratulate the New Zealand university sector on the recent announcement of an online academic verification service, to combat falsified credentials.

Here at Skills Active, as part of our role as the industry training organisation for sport and recreation, since 2012 we have provided our industries with a free and comprehensive online qualification and registration database, ActiveCV, that can be used by sport and recreation professionals, employers, and the public.

ActiveCV allows users to manage and display their sport and recreation qualifications in one place, and have their professional credentials verified, through a secure system in partnership with national registration bodies.

Our partners include the NZ Outdoor Instructors Association, the NZ Register of Exercise Professionals, Water Safety NZ, the NZ Rivers Association, and many more.

With access to this public database, consumers of sport and recreation services can be confident of the bona fides of their service providers.

Verification and recognition for hardworking professionals

Skills Active is funded by government to develop world-class on-the-job qualifications, and support employers to train staff. Part of our remit is also to champion workforce development and career progression for the sport and recreation workforce, and deliver valuable and sophisticated tools that help both organisations and individuals to thrive.

Our sport, recreation and performing arts stakeholders are of vital importance to the New Zealand economy, and ensuring that they deliver safe, high-quality and fun experiences for all participants is paramount.

Through ActiveCV, Skills Active is proud to contribute to maintaining the strict integrity of the qualification system for these industries, as well as making sure trained and qualified professionals can promote themselves and be recognised for the hard work they have put in.

We are thrilled to have the universities of New Zealand joining us in this endeavour.
