The diploma is all about providing the advanced skills and knowledge required for the safe and effective delivery of exercise prescription. People in these roles understand the benefits that appropriate exercise can bring to someone’s overall wellbeing. They are confident, clear communicators who use their expertise and enthusiasm to motivate their clients.
This qualification is developed by Skills Active, but is designed to be completed off-job through a tertiary education provider.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to develop, deliver and evaluate personalised exercise programmes for a wide range of individuals and groups.

This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 5), and may lead to study at a higher level in the areas of sport, recreation, exercise or health.
