This qualification is for people who work in roles such as workshop technicians or rental services personnel in the snowsport industry.
People working in these roles have the interpersonal skills to effectively communicate their knowledge of snowsport equipment to customers.
This qualification will be delivered and assessed on-the-job in a snowsport workplace.
Graduates of the Workshop Technician strand will be able to provide basic repair and maintenance services for skis and snowboards.
Graduates of the Rental strand will be able to provide rental services to skiers and snowboarders.
Customer service
Communication skills
Knowledge of snowsport equipment, safety issues and local snowsport activities
Health and safety.
Basic tuning, repairs and maintenance of snowsport equipment
Fitting and adjusting a range of bindings.
Offering advice on renting and managing a range of snowsport equipment
Applying knowledge of rental bindings to meet customer needs
Basic foot analysis in order to match the boot to the type of snowsport being undertaken.
On-job training costs workplaces both time and resources. It can mean covering registration fees, learning and assessment resources, allocating time for training, and having an appropriate assessment pathway available.
Total costs for trainees will vary depending on how the qualification is delivered, how it is assessed and how much support the workplace can provide.
