In this series we are introducing you to some of the awesome people who have been working hard behind the scenes as we move towards launching our new, independent tertiary education organisation, Te Mahi Ako.
Anthony Cox is the chief financial officer of Skills Active Aotearoa Ltd.
Ant is a numbers person. This year he has a goal to walk 3000km, which works out to 8.2km per day, and is currently on track to achieve this goal. When he’s not clocking up the Ks, he is the steward of the finances at Skills Active, and he’ll be doing the same important work once the new provider, Te Mahi Ako, gets up and running.
Ant has worked in accountancy, in CFO and general leadership roles in a broad suite of industry sectors, and all around New Zealand from Palmy to Rotorua to Wellington, as well as in the UK. He was drawn to working in finance because he likes demystifying the numbers for people.
“The numbers are part of the story that any organisation is telling, so people need to have confidence in them, whether that’s the board, the auditors or people working in the business. It’s important for people to see the link between the finances and how they operate within the business.”
